Plan Your Visit

The Finger Lakes Region is a popular destination, every season of the year. Eleven postcard-perfect lakes offer both the first time visitor and the lifelong fan countless opportunities to get connected to nature, to history, to good food and the good life.

Connoisseurs around the globe are learning what locals have known all along – The Finger Lakes Region is producing some of the finest wines in the world. Want to experience it yourself? Pick a wine trail and follow it – and while you’re on your way – consider filling your market basket with homegrown and handmade specialties from the region.

But there’s more to the region than just great wines and good foods. We have access to the city life in nearby Rochester. Our pace picks up a bit with Finger Lakes Region’s NASCAR at Watkins Glen, thoroughbred horseracing and casino action at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack, and “super shopping” at outlet malls and at EASTVIEW in Victor.

You’re invited to get active in the area with golfing, skiing, hiking, biking, antiquing, architecture and history hunting. This area has been deemed, Nature’s Health Club. 4692 square miles of fun, fitness and relaxation are offered – all in a rejuvenating setting that redecorates itself with each season.

And, make sure you cap off your visit to the Finger Lakes with a special event or two. For centuries, visitors have been discovering the wealth of artistic and cultural experiences found in the Finger Lakes Region, and we work hard to preserve and celebrate that legacy through our theatre arts, family events, grape festivals, celebrations of our Native American history, and lakeside art shows.
Ah, yes, it’s the Finger Lakes – a place so named because legend has it that the lakes were formed by the blessing of the Great Spirit’s outstretched hand. Beyond the legend those who live here and those who visit share in the blessing of this breathtaking area of New York State.
