Golden Nose Award–April 14: A Finger Lakes Wine Experience
Golden Nose Award–April 14: A Finger Lakes Wine Experience

The Golden Nose is a one-of-a-kind competition that allows consumers to award the best wines from the Finger Lakes region. The New York Wine & Culinary Center will host the event on April 14, 2012. Consumers will learn techniques of wine judging from local winemakers, and then award medals during a professionally-run competition. In addition to the awarding of gold, silver and bronze medals, a special “Finger Lakes Riesling Champion” will be crowned by consumer judges.

Golden Nose was previously sponsored by the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and held in Corning, NY in 2006, 2007, and 2008. The event was suspended in 2009. The New York Wine & Culinary Center revived the event in 2010 with the same mission, spirit, and format. Seneca, Cayuga, Keuka, and Canandaigua Wine Trails continue to support the event with volunteers.

The weekend consists of the following events: Golden Nose Meet-and-Greet Kitchen Social (Friday night), Golden Nose Judge Package (including the Kitchen Social, Judge Training, Golden Nose Competition and Award Celebration), and Golden Nose Award Celebration. Tickets are available for both beginner and returning judges.

Testimonials from 2011 Golden Nose Judges:
“I signed up for this event hoping to educate myself a little more about wine and it was well worth it. I would do it again!”

“Canandaigua is a great location! Speakers and panel leaders were lively, authoritative and personable.”

“We had a fantastic time!”
