It is an epic battle to crown the ultimate Finger Lakes Chef! Chefs have come from all over the world to practice their craft in the Finger Lakes. The unique wine region, fantastic local produce and strong tourism provide the perfect recipe for any professional chef. At Slice, Dice, and Spice NY 2010, nine chefs will compete in an Iron-Chef like competition with teams of amateurs to crown the Slice, Dice and Spice NY 2010 champion!

Each team will be asked to create and properly plate dishes using common “Market Basket” ingredients. However, new this year, each heat will be given a surprise theme that will dictate the subject for each team to illustrate with their recipes, food styles and plating. All of the ingredients available to them will come from New York and showcase the vast amount of products that can be found in the area, of course. Along with creating a food story (teams will not be limited by numbers, but by how well they represent the Finger Lakes Experience) within one hour – the chefs and their team will also have the task of pairing each of their dishes with a wine from the Finger Lakes.

Three heats taking place at 12:30, 4 and 6:30pm will determine the finalists that move on to the final event on September 19.

Finals Event • September 19 from 1–4pm

Tasting Table info

A chef has lots of tools to work with. Knives, a recipe book, and their oven…but what about the ingredients around them? The Finger Lakes has an abundance of local products from jams and jellies to wines to mustards. During the finals of Slice, Dice and Spice NY 2010, those attending the event will be able to enjoy the flavors of the Finger Lakes from many local food producers and wineries. Many of the products and wines will be the same items the chefs in the competition are working with.

Preliminary Rounds and the Finals are open and FREE to the public.
